WCIB Prize Giving

Melika Morrison Mills (£100), Annakey Gordon (£50), Marina Kotonou (£20) were all awarded prizes in the essay competition organised by The Worshipful Company International Bankers.  The subject was 'Why did the government bail out UK banks' .  Melika accepted her prize from Jane Platt, Chief Executive of National Savings and Investments at the prize giving event held in the City on 8 December.

“Like a charity, the government are offering short-term aid to these banks, when what they really need is long-term aid…something that won’t just keep them surviving for a few years, but something which will let them survive for much longer! That’s the difference between giving capital and giving advice on how to overcome these problems by themselves.” (Extract from Marina Kotonou entry)
