School Council gets Canopy

The School Council were delighted to see the Canopy erected at the beginning of October 2009. Months of hard work, campaigning and research has brought the result they were hoping for. The next stage is to fundraise for the outdoor gym equipment which will be located underneath. Well done to all and thanks to Mr Sheppard for his contribution too.
The School Council – work in progress
We are incredibly proud of the work and organisation of our school council. During the last academic year we introduced 3 sub committees each with particular remits.
The Environment/Grounds sub-committee: wanted a new canopy to offer a sheltered open space and after a great deal of hard work and research the first part of their dream is now realised.
The Teaching and Learning sub-committee: they were heavily involved in the our new reward system – Vivo. The pupils worked closely with Mr Reilly on the project.
The Communication sub-committee: VLE survey about Teachers/Students Communication with the aim to use it as a guideline to prepare a lesson observation criteria for next year.
WSCouncillers attended and led at several pan-London conferences and workshops about Student Voice and Student Leadership; brilliantly show-casing good-practice. APT (Academic Peer Tutoring) has always been the highlight as well as our SC’s sub-committees structure and actions.
Youth TimeBank - 4 students have just finished and presented a short clip to raise awareness about the lunch queues and how to sort out the issues revolving around it.
Leadership presentations/reports were outstanding, as well as one governor’s presentation
